Evaluasi pembuatan iodium 125 menggunakan sasaran gas
xenon-124 diperkaya 99,98%. Salah satu radioisotop yang
digunakan di kedokteran nuklir di Indonesia adalah
radioisotop I-125. Radioisotop I-125 digunakan untuk
pembuatan kit radioimmunoassay (RIA) dan untuk
pembuatan seed brachytherapy kanker prostat. Pembuatan
I-125 dapat dilakukan dengan cara mengiradiasi gas
xenon-124, 125 Xe selajutnya akan terjadi peluruhan
menjadi radioisotop I-125. Dalam kegiatan ini dipakai
sasaran gas xenon-124 dengan pengkayaan sebesar 99,98%.
Iradiasi dilakukan di posisi S1 di teras RSG GA
Siwabessy selama 24 jam. Telah dilakukan tiga kali
proses pembuatan I-125 dan diperoleh produk dengan
radioaktivitas masing-masing sebesar 8,367 mC, 9,738
mCi dan 6,825 mCi dan pengotor radionuklida I-126
sebesar 0,11%, 0,63% dan 2,84% pada saat pelarutan (7
hari setelah iradiasi).
