A CHARACTERIZATION OF LEAD GLASS SHIELDING FOR X-RAY IMAGES CAPTURER. A Characterization of lead glass shielding for X-ray image capture has been conducted. The characterization aim is to determine the quality of the lead glass both to X-ray absorption and light transmission. Theoretical calculations of X-ray absorption are based on the assumption that the dominant composition of lead glass is SiO2, PbO, which is then specified its density (ρ) and its linear absorption coefficient (μ), while its the light transmission is calculated using Light Dependent Resistor (LDR). The results show that the characterization of lead glass with a thickness of 1.7 cm is capable of absorbing radiation X-ray while the light still be able pass in accordance with the provisions of SNI 16-656-2002 about lead glass for X-ray protection. The conclusion of this characterization is that the lead glass meets the standards of lead glass for use in X-ray image capture.
